I am directed by the Governor to be laid before Earl Granville, a copy of a despatch from the Officer Administering the Government of Hongkong, enclosing a copy of correspondence that took place between the Charge d'Affaires at Peking and H. B. Ms. Consul at Tientsin respecting the payment of a sum due to the Hongkong Government for the maintenance in Victoria Gaol of certain prisoners sentenced in Her Majesty's Consular courts in China.
Lord Kimberley would be glad to know what instructions have been issued for the repayment
